Textbox

The Textbox field is used to capture text input from users. It can be configured as either a short textbox for brief responses (e.g. names, titles) or a long textbox for extended input (e.g. addresses, explanations).

Form creators can also apply character limits, validations, and prefill options to ensure the data collected is accurate and structured according to requirements.

How to Create Short Textbox

  1. Right-click on Form Content.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Choose Textbox.
  4. Enter a field name and provide the text you want to display under Content (e.g. Name).
  5. Click Save.

How to Allow Prefill (URL and Gov AD)

Form editors can make a textbox automatically filled in before the user starts typing. This can be done in two ways:

1. Prefill from URL – by adding a parameter at the end of the form link.

2. Prefill from Gov AD – by using the official Government Active Directory (Gov AD) login details.

Step 1: Create Your Textbox

  1. First, create your textbox field by following the steps in How To Create Short Textbox or How To Create Long Textbox.
  2. Once created, go to the Prefill Values tab of that field.

Option A: Prefill from URL

This method is useful when you want to prefill a field with a specific value using a custom link.

  1. 1. Toggle Allow Prefill from URL to ON.
  2. 2. Click Save.
4.1
  1. When sharing the form, add the field parameter at the end of your URL in this format:

?fid_{fieldID}={fieldValue}

    • To find the field ID, open the Info tab of your field. The ID will look like a long string (for example: 70f056f9-48e7-485a-ac02-1206255c4824).

    • Example: If you want the textbox to show the value “EGNC”, your link will look like this:

https://forms.gov.bn/exampleform?fid_70f056f9-48e7-485a-ac02-1206255c4824=EGNC

4.3

As a result:

As a result, the textbox will display the value provided in the link (e.g. “EGNC”).

4.4

This method is useful when you want the form to automatically display the respondent’s government details (Name or Email).

  1. In the Prefill Values tab, choose your source:
    • Gov AD Email – fills in the official government email.
    • Gov AD Name (Username) – fills in the official username.
  1. Click Save.
4.5
4.6
  1. Go to the parent Form, open the Security tab, and under Authentication, select Government AD.
4.7
4.8

As a result:

As a result, the textbox will display the user’s official Gov AD Name or Gov AD Email, depending on the configuration.
