How to Set a Submit Action

There are two ways to set the Submit Action in FormBN. Both methods work, but the correct one depends on how your form is designed.

Approach 1: Set the Submit Action on the Submit Button (Standard Form)

1. If you created a Submit button field, follow the steps in How to Create a Submit Button.

2. Under Submit Action, add the desired action(s) to be triggered after submission.

  • For example: Redirect to another page or send an email.

  • For clear step-by-step guidance, please refer to the Submit Actions guide to ensure proper setup.

3. Click Save.

2.1

As a result:

The chosen action will run each time a respondent clicks the Submit button.

Approach 2: Set the Default Submit Action in Form Settings (Step Group Form)

1. If your form is built using a Step Group, the Submit button is already provided automatically. You do not need to add another one.

2. Open your form’s Settings.

3. Under Submit Logic, find Default Submit Action.

4. Add the desired action(s) to be triggered after submission.

5. Click Save.

2.2

As a result:

The default action will apply to the whole form when respondents reach the end of the Step Group and click Submit.

Tip for Editors: -

  • For regular forms, you can use either Approach 1 or Approach 2.

  • For Step Group forms, always use Approach 2 (Default Submit Action) so the action is applied correctly.
